On A Boat

This past Tuesday my sweet friends and I took our little ones on a fun adventure.  Starting in Mt. Pleasant, we took a water taxi across the harbor to downtown Charleston, ran around the aquarium with about 400 other kids who were on a field trip, and then took the water taxi back across the harbor.  We even saw some dolphins along the way.  The kids had a ball, and us moms got some good chat time.  I really treasure these friendships I have made since moving here.  We all met at church, and our children play together all the time.   They are gold I must say...have I mentioned how much I heart Charleston?

Charles Towne Landing

We visited Charles Towne Landing a few weeks ago.  Very fun - an animal forest and a reproduction 17th century ship were the kids' favorite attractions.  I'm working on my photography a bit - let me know what you think!

Beach Season

Yes, it's beach season again...and it's just one more thing to add to my list of "Why I heart Charleston."  I absolutely love the beach, and it's the perfect time of year to go - not to hot, not too windy, not too touristy.  I cannot believe we have this little nugget of paradise only 20 minutes from our house. God is so good.

Taking the kiddos this year is so much easier than last year - Frances can walk and self-entertain, no breastfeeding tasks, and both babes love to dig in the sand and chase birds for hours.  I even bring my chair along this year to relax in - maybe next time I'll bring along a book!

Well, it's not all paradise...

8 Years

Happy Anniversary Jacob.  From Augusta to Charleston and everywhere in between, it has been the most wonderful 8 years of my life.  We have been through so much - medical school, residency, babies, fellowship, trips, trips and more trips.  We've had a lot of ups, but also some downs.  I am so thankful that we get to experience these ups and downs together.  Each chapter in our lives hold such special memories for me.  Before I get too sentimental, here are some pictures from the last 6 years of our marriage (the first two years are B.D. - before digital - so no 2002 or most of 2003).

I love reflecting on the following piece of scripture we had printed in our wedding programs :
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
Philippians 1:9-11

Thanks Jacob for the last 8 years...looking forward to the next 60 more!

How Many Takes?

How many shots does it take to get the "perfect" picture?  One Sunday before church while Jacob was working (meaning I was by myself trying to do too many things before I walked out the door), I decided to have a mini-photo shoot of the kids since they were both dressed in white and looking all angelic. After several attempts, I got a half-way decent one.  Thought these pics were a perfect example of how our many photography sessions go.

You want us to do what?

Smile for a picture and look at the camera? That would be too easy!

Well, here's a "cheese" for you.

What about this one?

Okay, this one will work!

Bee City

We went to Bee City a few weeks ago - major fun for the kiddos.  It had a neat petting/feeding zoo as well as a honeybee hives to observe.  We made it safely out with only one bee sting - Frances survived, but I think it was more traumatic for me.  Note to self for future bee city visits:  do not put child in cute smocked dress for bees to get trapped in when such child ventures off path.

 Feeding the baby goats

Lemurs and monkeys and goats, oh my!

On to the next feeding task

More llamas

More feeding

And more feeding
