Middleton Place - amazing plantation established in the 1730's....it was beautiful to say the least - gardens, historic home, stableyard, the works.

Be A Tourist - Day 6

We've been a little busy lately (stomach bug, Asheville trip, and a family wedding), so posting has definitely taken a back burner to the necessities of life.  Alas, here are a few snapshots of the everlasting "Be a Tourist" post - The Gibbes Museum - not much of a kid friendly art museum, but I enjoyed it, we made it without the children touching any paintings, and it was fun to see for free.

Be A Tourist - Day 5

Aunt Jules went with us to the Charleston Museum on a rainy January day. It had so many neat exhibits, and it included a fun children's section.  Charles loves a museum of any kind - if I say "museum," Charles is in the car ready to go.  And Frances is always along for the ride.

Be A Tourist - Day 4

Here are som pictures from Magnolia Plantation and Gardens - I don't know many historical facts except it was founded in the late 1600's and is the oldest public garden in America.  We visited the animals and ran through the gardens.  A very good day!

Be A Tourist - Day 3

Back on track with the Tourist Pass - Day 3 we visited the Hunley Submarine - the story is amazing to say the least.  In 1864, it was the first submarine ever to sink an enemy ship, but it mysteriously never returned.   After years of searching, it was finally discovered in 1995 by author Clive Cussler.  Enough with the history lesson, here are a few pics - we didn't get many as there is not much to view - the submarine is underwater during its conservation efforts.  But most definitely worth a visit.
