Here are a few pictures - Miriam, Jacob's sister joined me and did an amazing job - she ran it in 47 minutes. Jacob, C, F, and Julianna (another of Jacob's sisters) welcomed us at the finish line. Jules had just gotten off the night shift so we were so excited to see her sweet face!

Bridge Run
After living here 1 1/2 years, I finally ran my first Bridge Run. It definitely makes you proud to live in Charleston to see 38,000 people come to run across the Ravenel Bridge (which is at least one mile uphill). It was a 10k, I ran it in exactly 55 minutes - so that is a hair under 9 minute per mile. I was pretty pleased with the results considering the last 6.2 mile race I ran was B.C. (Before Charles) AND I was running on a gimpy toe that I broke a few weeks ago.

Weekend in the Country
Some of our good friends invited us for a weekend in the country at the end of January. We originally met them over five years ago in B'ham at our old church, but they recently moved back home which is now our home! We couldn't wait to spend some time with their sweet family of five and catch up with each other. It was so nice to get away from the "city" life and just relax. We played cornhole, jumped in ice puddles, played with toys and games, read books, ate yummy food, and really just enjoyed each other's company. Oh yes, and at one point we were running away from a late night bat that had ventured its way into the cabin - scary, but quite amusing to say the least.
The boys playing cornhole
Just swinging
Loving the tractor
An outing
Not sure about this
Relaxing and playing
The joggling board
More cornhole
The proud smoker

The "Snow Post"
Yes, I am behind, but I had to post a few pics of our monumental snow day in Charleston in over a decade. The kids enjoyed the white powder even if it only lasted a few hours. The first three are a series of shots showing the difference a boy's and girl's personalities - I think these captured them quite well!

My first sewing project
After a few months of getting the courage to break out my new sewing machine, I completed my first project - a superhero cape for Mr. C. Okay, it wasn't my first time sewing, I took a class a few years ago before any babies were in the picture...but it was my first project started and completed by myself on my very own sewing machine. It was so much fun to make it, and the look on Charles' face when I presented it to him was priceless. He just stared at it and had the biggest grin on his face. What do you think? the inside lining is red - I'll have to get a few more pics to show. Next I plan on making one for Miss F that is hot pink material and a flower.

Be A Tourist - Day 8
Okay, didn't realize it would take me this long to post the Be a Tourist series which was finished by January - but here is the last day of our fun tourist city! We went to the Center for the Birds of Prey. Who knew that hawks and owls could be so fascinating? We had so much fun on a chilly Saturday morning complete with a flight demonstration. I must say we definitely learned a thing or two.
